Hello!
My name is Elizabeth and I am thrilled to be making my first blog post. I can’t wait to keep you all up-to-date on the latest and greatest happenings in my seemingly-distant yet quickly-arriving wedding to my fiancé Chris.
Chris and I have been dating for just over 4 years. We met through a mutual friend while attending the University of Alabama, and after he graduated we were long-distance for 3 years before moving to Boston together. I am a 22-year-old dental student who loves cake decorating, singing karaoke, and driving with the windows down. Chris is a 26-year-old financial consultant for hospitals, who loves lazy days, international travel and good friends and family. We also love college football, good Southern food, and our Westie puppy Maggie. We were just engaged on December 20th, 2008, when Chris proposed to me during a drive through the mountains near my home in North Carolina when we were home for the holidays.
We are busy planning an August 2010 wedding, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta has a special place in our hearts, as Chris lived there for about three years and it is also the nearest city to my small mountain home in North Carolina. We hope to have between 100-150 guests at our evening wedding, a late summer soirée with amazing views of the park and the Atlanta skyline as the sun sets. We want to have an amazing wedding that will leave our friends and family talking about it for years to come.
We have just begun the preliminary steps in planning; looking at dresses and locations, selecting our wedding party, and meeting with wedding coordinators within the past month. I am thrilled to be able to give a full view of our planning as it progresses over the next year or so, as I try to keep up with my studies as well as taking care of all of the details of planning a wedding on a not-so-huge budget that is 1000 miles away from Boston. As the planning ensues, I hope to let everyone in on any tips, tricks, money-savers, hassles, and ideas that might help you plan a better and easier wedding.
