There is nothing that sparkles on a wedding invitation quite like hot foil stamping. From gold to green, silver to sapphire, finding a foil that coordinates with your wedding invitation theme or design makes a much stronger impression upon your guests.
While adding foil to letterpress wedding invitations is nothing new, we recently had a job that was something I had never seen before. For this bride, who was feeling particularly unique and creative, we designed an invitation and RSVP card that required no ink and would be entirely printed with hot foil stamping.
The process was so spectacular and the invitation set ended up looking so amazing that we had to film it so you could see what I am talking about.

For those of you with no sound, I will include a general overview of the commentary below.
“At Invitations by Ajalon we recently had a job where all the text and design was hot foil stamped and no regular ink was used on the invitation or rsvp card.
We started with an espresso color cardstock. We then used a pink foil for the palm leaves and the text was added using a white foil.

This created a wonderful wedding invitation that had a rich dark colored paper that communicated the formality and seriousness of the event while the foil stamping added the lightness and fun.
For this project there were four different hot foil stamping runs. Therefore four different foil dies. We use copper dies because they are very versatile and produce great results, also we can recycle them after we are done.
Foiling is not much more expensive than letterpress printing. While at the same time the results and unique design possibilities are extraordinary.
We used an off white paper to foil the RSVP card. For this, a brown foil was used that carried the color theme over from the invitation.

The same pink foil was used for the palm leaves, nicely tying the colors of the invitation set together.
Hope you enjoyed the show!
